Song Inspiration: Yellow - Yoh Kamiyama
I would recommend anybody to check out the video link (English subtitles included). It's a very catchy song after listening to it a couple of times and you may end up saying "Yellow" repetitively.
I found the song in my YouTube recommendations but I've been ignoring it a couple times before I finally got myself to watch it. I wasn't disappointed through the end. When I saw the colours used in the song and thumbnail, it gave me the inspiration to try drawing Error in those colour schemes since he has similar colour palettes. You may notice Error's scarf is more grey instead of navy blue to match the theme.
Also, Error wears a certain badge pin as a reference to Crayon Queen (the original creator of Error) and added to my UnderDespair AU.

Yasu-Kun here, and I'm shocked how many views this page has! Please don't take my theories as facts because I originally want to draw Error!Sans in the colour palette of the "Yellow" music video. That's it.
As for the song, it may not suit Error's background due to different song meanings and how people define "yellow".
The most common theory I found is about the colour yellow being associated with 'gay'. I can't completely agree with it but I can at least approve the theory since the song gives some evidence of mentioning the character hiding inside a closet and the high heels worn by the demon counter.
The other theory, which I favour more, is using the colour meaning of yellow as "jealousy", "caution" and "happiness" in which I used to represent it to one of my original character along with his background story as an example to my theory. Also, the song fits my OC better than Error but I still go along with my first instinct of drawing Error inspired by the music video.
There's also an interesting Japanese comment I found about yellow is the same colour as the lights of a car parking home every night. Using their theory relating to mine, the boy shows hints of depression with hidden traumas. Following the lyrics, the boy never celebrates his own birthday and often plays alone when referring to the cake and wooden puppet.
Near the chorus, he's about to meet his innocence gone. For example, the curiosity soon walks onto something they shouldn't see or know earlier. Abuse domination is the most luckily choice, or even sexual violence because the evidence says "affection is too high" in the lyrics and it could refer to some kind of relationship to toss out.
The "hiding in the closet" part is just as the lyrics say to hide from something or somebody, along with a baseball bat as a weapon in defence or attack. In the video, the boy used a bat to attack the glass because they never want to see that "yellow light outside the window" anymore.
In the end, the boy was dragged with the 'demon' for his sins. An example is like going to prison or jail due to being cuffed. That or with my darker theory, the person is prisoned in this kind of life with handcuffs on both wrists and ankles or even could lead to sexual acts. They would cry to themselves as they never get the "yellow" summer they wanted.
How is this related to Error? It's different.
The real story behind the song is thrown around as specifications but I have this idea similar to the theories I explained above as reference. For those who knows Error, try changing the setting by having Error being stuck in the anti-void as he hates seeing the "yellow" sunlight and happy endings in multiple universes.
When the song mentions about puppets and toys, I got a strong idea of interpreting the song as Error's theme since he's closely attached to his own puppets as his prize possessions after destroying various universes, or toys to control and play with various Sans-es out of loneliness. The closet is how small he feels living in the anti-void despite the enormous space. Error is also a shut-in with an antisocial personality who doesn't create any connection or affections with others.
Finally, the part about the "yellow windows" is similar to Error opening different dimensions and wanting to destroy the pacifist timelines and multiverses. The reason is that Error strongly believes there should be only one universe and timeline in the existence of Undertale.
Of course, Error couldn't erase everything he hates from his path as it comes into a repeating cycle. No matter how many universes he destroys, he also creates conflicts and possible timelines due to his own actions (certain AUs like, UnderDespair is created due to certain disappearance of other universe's possibly because of him).
In the end, Error wouldn't reach his own goal or happy ending, especially since he already came from a genocide route with no return.
Either way, it's very interesting something like this contains multiple meanings, speculations, theories and ideas all coming from one song.
