The Silver Garden - Blue

Blessed Messiah and the Tower of AI AU - Part 8

The last two trials have NOTHING to do with twins or siblings. The remaining roles alive are often best reserved for fan-favourite characters. Between the two most popular AUs, Blue is next and there's a lot to talk about him.

In UnderDespair, Blue is often played as the antagonist as a friendly-rival of Sci (referencing to CPAU) as the childish villain but he used that act to survive with other reasons to his benefit. Blue is the "Ultimate President Leader" and always plays a leadership role. His talent can bring the most dangerous skeletons (Error, Fresh and even Lust) by his side while deeply care for their lives.

In Underswap, most of his character traits came from Undertale Papyrus as the swap role in his universe. He can be sly and flamboyant like Lust but Blue is very cunning and manipulative than Papyrus as because he still has a body of a Sans. His image is often mistaken from the public and shown as a misunderstood character. Despite how wrong the community sees him, he turned himself into a lie and used it to his advantage to enable control of others.

With all the background references above, Blue takes the commander role of the group despite Sci is the main lead of the party. He also tries to cook with his amateur skills coming from his "Papyrus" trait. As a friend of Sci, he journeys with him and brought the rest of his friends and even convinced them all with G's reasons to come along.

In the Tower of AI, Blue sacrificed himself before Edge and he pushed him away from the ice blessing. The reason why Blue prevents Edge from taking the next blessing is that he knew and meddled with Edge and Sci's relationship. Blue "steals" the blessing so the remaining two can spare extra time together before their final farewell. To them, Sci didn't understand his intentions and thought he went in for selfish reasons like everybody else. As for Edge, even if he knew Blue's reasons, he believed Blue was trying to be noble as a leader and wanna-be royal guard.

Lastly, Blue was last seen claiming the trial with "joyful tears" streaming down before it freezes him. Without knowing Blue's goal, anybody would interpret this as either happy for letting Edge live a little longer or hiding his tears of despair as he lied to his own emotions. In the end, Blue was better off with the most reasons above.

The eighth blessing is the "Silver Garden" with the elemental power of ice, resulting in Blue’s death being frozen from hypothermia.

After working on Edge, I decided to continue this set of illustrations from the descending order because I love to draw my favourite skeletons first. I changed Blue's mouth to have his expression similar to Rin in the music video.

I really like the colours of blues and tint of greens, which makes it easier to work with Blue. I had trouble with the tears as I couldn't replicate the same from Sci's. The elemental circle isn't the best as he got the most simple shape in the middle and it's my first try using the symmetry tool in PhotoShop CC.

Overall, I really love how it turned out with my previous drawings of Sci and Edge together.
