Lineart Collab for Illousteri @ Instagram. This is an art collab with Illousteri and here's my part of the lineart. We decided to draw two skeleton characters together and I'm drawing Error and Ink because they're Illousteri's favourite ship while they draw mine in return.
Once we finish it, I'll be uploading my coloured and Illosteri's lineart of the collab. Also, I'll make a new post of the finished version of Error and Ink as well.
Personally, I never like drawing Ink because he has too much going on in his design and clothes. I draw the wrapped jacket around his waist differently from the original reference because I took a photo of myself wearing one and it looked different from how I was expected. I relied on my own references for the hand positions and my lineart became much closer to life.
Ink's vials around his belt are different as well. The hearts (lid) are placed on the top instead because... Let's be honest and realistic, it's much more convenient otherwise it will slip from the bottom (especially the top of the opened tubes or bigger lid than the cylinder prevents the vials from falling). I also made all the hearts like a jewel or crystal-looking and removed the giant paintbrush behind Ink because it would be difficult to see Error at the back.
Those are the minor changes when drawing Ink as I practice better from life drawing. I give Ink additional art supplies and tools (especially the chisels representing the murder weapon in my AU). As for Error, I don't have much to say because I draw him a little more often than Ink and placed him with the background. I wanted Ink the main focus of the two because I want to show all the details of his character design in my lineart.
I wrote some comments during the progress about saying how Ink looks similar to two other characters. The one I mentioned first is mainly because of the hand poses are something I'll always draw for them in a fighting or battle style.
Working on a 2000 x 2000 px canvas is hard to clean my lineart and decided not to go perfect with it since it's not noticeable unless zooming in 100%. Unlike Error, Ink took the most time for me to finish the drawing. This also took me 3 days to complete the lineart stage.
Finally, I want to mention that only Illousteri is allowed to use this illustration to complete the collab with the original PSD file. Thank you!
