Cuddles [Gift]

(Late) Birthday present for cuddlypfudor @ Instagram.

Yesterday is Cuddles' birthday and I haven't draw anything for quite some time in digital, which took me 2 days to finish this (5 hours and 40 minutes total). I was busy writing and planning the rest of my AU story to the point I enjoy writing more than drawing.

Anyway, I drew her fursona "Cuddles" and it was a challenge because I don't often draw original characters other than skeletons and I'm experiencing oversaturated colours, which isn't in my comfort zone as I prefer more neutral or monochrome.

Also, I have trouble using Premiere every time I try to import my recordings. Luckily, I was about to manage and make it into a silent speedpaint to show my progress as a bonus.

The colour palette was difficult yet fun to work with, so I alternate some colours darker or lighter than the original reference. For example, her hair is slightly darker purple and the edges of the clothing are lighter.

The reason why I made slight adjustments is that I've learned the values in colours by turning it into grayscale to see if certain colours are similar or nearly the same to different to each other, otherwise it would be confusing which is the hair, clothes, eyes and such when removing the lineart away.

The pose and position aren't the best, I intend to make a top angle as she's demanding jellybeans or something like that as she looks up to somebody. However, I do like how I drew her wavy hair because I wanted to reveal the other eye.

The rainbow wings are optional but I still end up using it as a background so it wouldn't be plain or boring. Overall, even though I didn't fix some of my lineart properly (didn't want to zoom in and be a perfectionist forever), I love the final results of the whole look!
