Perfect time to introduce this old meme in the beginning on 2021.For English translation, on the top-right corner, it says, "Emergency News Program" and "Heavy Snowstorm in Universe-City" with Sci's saying, "Being in the snow with my lover like this immerses me in a special feeling... I like it!" on live television.
This parody was popular back then and I never got to make this into a digital illustration until this year. There's also a tweet to the screenshot interview responding, "Shut up, f*ckin' four-eyes!" which makes it even funnier having Sci as the nerd confessing.
To begin the new year, I had to finish this unfinished drawing since I started about a year ago. I've always wanted to draw this meme since I drew in my sketchbook ever since I got myself into scifell but didn't have the chance to do so. Now, I believe the timing is close to perfect to give everyone nostalgia from seeing this!
Surprisingly, the background was originally a photo I took 8 years ago around the city. It's unfortunate that I never seen snow in my life other than hail and ice from slushies so this is the closest photo to the original screenshot with a crossing road quite invisible and make it snowy.
If I could change, I would be fixing Sci's blush after noticing it looks a little darker on his glasses and add somebody's hand holding the microphone because it was a last minute drawing along with the background unplan. I rushed near the end to finish this quicker since it already took me over 7 hours and 30 minutes long.
Regardless, I'm happy to make the background merge with my digital drawings as one without looking out of place. Despite drawing their hands is difficult in lineart, the overall look is worth all the effort I did on it!
