Otaku Wedding [3126]

Translation: What if Sci holds a wedding, but he likes both anime and Edge…?

This is a 5½ hour "WHAT IF" sketch inspired by Thu (tumpilmungil @ Tumblr). Unfortunately, this post can't tag every background character reacting to the unexpected twist!

Basically, Thu and I were talking about Sci as an (extreme) anime nerd to the point he can't choose his love life between his unhealthy obsession with anime or his real relationship with Edge. Then, I got the motivation to draw their idea into a sketch.

I was mostly laughing my ass off the first time I drew this that I couldn't turn it into a fully rendered illustration. But then, I fell sick last night around midnight (and became like Ink as a poor artist throwing up) before I managed to continue and finish drawing this sketch tonight.

The idea was Sci holding a wedding and everybody thought he'll be marrying Edge, but it turns out to be a dakimakura (body pillow) of his anime "waifu/husbando". However, Sci has two hands so he can hold both Edge and his anime waifu or husbando.

Lastly, the character on Sci's dakimakura is a reference to Rem (from Re:Zero), nearly the anime community's best girl and waifu — including my friend and ex's favourite waifu. Also, based on my research, the character's age is eighteen and over in future arcs of the series.
