February 10th HBD (Late)

My version of Sci shares the same birthday with my persona (Yasu-Kun)

It's been ages since I last drew Yasu-Kun (my persona) and wanted to draw him again. I don't usually put characters from different franchises (or universes) together, but I make a special occasion for my February 10th boys (and a drawing of the creator with their creation).

Ever since I got into the Undertale AU fandom (for scifell), I've inspired many people back when I was very active on Tumblr. Most of my content brought my version of Science Sans to life along with scifell. I often draw Sci the most because he's the most underrated and neglected skeleton in the AU community, hence why I drew him the most after Edge — despite they're both my favourite characters.

Since my contribution, most of my ideas and concepts for Sci have spread to the point there's a lot of misinformation floating around the internet on Science Sans. As a veteran user with the most information on scifell and Science Sans, Sci was originally a concept anyone could inspired by the idea of a younger version of (Undertale) Sans.

Many people have similar theories about Sans as a scientist before the events of Undertale, and the thought expands further. Talkingsoup, and possibly Crayon Queen as well, are examples who were inspired by the same concept, but their story and version of "Science Sans" is based on a "what if" pre-timeline of Undertale — in my opinion, and to avoid confusion, I refer to this concept of "Science Sans" as Scientist Sans.

However, my version of "Science Sans" is different and considered more to the "AU" concept of living in a timeline or universe outside or branching out from Undertale. The word science in "Science Sans" doesn't mean he's strictly a scientist. Although it's the most common role, Sci can be anything as long as it's in the realm or related to science in some aspect — a psychologist, paranormal investigator, doctor (which I don't blame anyone overusing that role), biology teacher, dietician, detective, or even a time traveller.

After explaining the differences, you *could* say I'm the original creator of "Science Sans" (not "Scientist Sans") after inventing many ideas related to Sci — which I have no control over after I made the existence of Sci's alter, Sci-Ko (and another I refrain from spoiling) who I regret making an "evil" or "yandere" version of Sci as a red herring. Even though I'm not the very first person who made an evil version of Sci (Macithemaci, the creator of Mad Sci, was my inspiration who I got my "evil" version from and liked their concept of an "evil Sci" x "good Edge/Flowerfell" from the usual "good Sci" x "evil Edge"), a comic of mine happened to blow up popular.

Overall, I'm fine if people credit me as the creator of Science Sans (especially if he's based of my version) or the AU Community as I've been a part of the fandom due to my contribution. If you make your version of Science Sans (or Scientist Sans), he's all yours — as Crayon Queen is the creator of her version of Science Sans in her Christmas Party AU comics.

I hope I shed a lot of light on Science Sans!

Regardless, I do recommend people crediting the concept of Science Sans and Scientist Sans to the AU Community, especially when celebrating his birthday on the same day as my persona (Yasu-Kun). Many people often credit Talkingsoup or someone else when celebrating Sci's birthday, which leads me frustrated by misinformation on who's the true owner of the "Science Sans" born on February 10th.

Step-by-Step Progression

Unfortunately, I couldn't finish this illustration in time — along with something else for UnderDespair's anniversary.

There are many mistakes and messy lines, but this time, I forced myself not to care to learn to work under limited time, using my digital painting style. Even so, I still couldn't achieve everything I wanted and be proud I finished something after being inactive from drawing.

If I were a Vtuber, I would definitely like to create my own model in my art style and based on my persona (Yasu-Kun), or my skeleton and human design of Sci (and Edge if my boyfriend joins me as my other half and shares the same channel together). Obviously, I would prefer my fans to celebrate my birthday on February 10th, the day I used to go by as my persona online.

Either way, the finished illustration looks and feels like making fanart (to myself), just like how many fans draw their favourite Vtubers for their birthday, whether or not it's their real birthday they used in their character or persona.

Lastly, this took me 3½ days with a total of 11 hours to complete this artwork.
