A "quick" sketch of Daniel, Saitou and Ed.
This sketch ends up taking the whole day instead, mainly focusing on fixing their hair and face. Also, drawing humans takes me back to my old original contents and how far I've improved... :'>
Here's some additional details and descriptions of their human versions:
Daniel is nearly the embodiment of my (old) persona and character Yasu-Kun, minus the insanity, as it's extremely rare for Dan to snap (and show his evil blue eyes). When he does, he'll definitely act like Yasu-Kun when he lost his sanity, becoming extremely reckless and impulsive than before. As he is now, Dan will always be the loveable idiot Sci/Saitou and Edge/Edward (or everyone?) needs in their life from his child-like mind and positivity in enjoying the simple things in life.
Dan's hair and facial details are based on me in real life, even the dark blue gradient in his hair was inspired by the time I used to dye my hair black-blue frequently. His hoodie is also inspired by my old jacket design, along with his streetwear joggers which I still wear to this day. And of course, his shoes are based on the iconic Converse shoes.
His black cap was inspired by one of those "NY" caps I rarely wore, except that I replaced "NY" with my own emblem from my initials "YK". I haven't added it to the drawing because it's a very minor detail, but the cap has a broken tear because of my dog, who loved carrying and accidentally tried to rip my hat. Also, Dan loves dogs and has a thing for rescuing (too many) stray dogs (and kept them in an abandoned warehouse). He's a dog person and a street rat with the ability to train his dogs to do almost anything, all by the power of love (as he would say)...! XDD
Saitou is based on my original design for my version of Science Sans, the exact copy. Now that I've changed the colour of his sweater to green, I can finally cosplay as him and work with the right fabric colour I've kept for a very long time!
Fun fact, Saitou's hair is completely white from a "What if all my black hair turned completely white due to stress?" concept. And yes, his original and natural hair colour is black, and wasn't curly or fluffy from losing his (and my) mind. All of this is from the time in my high school years when a couple of people around my age found so many white hair strands and advised me to reduce my stress. It's also a joke that I'm turning into a sad panda if some of my hair continues to turn white. Throughout my years, I've noticed some of my white hair strands turn back to black from the roots. It's also why I have Dan's hair black with his carefree "himbo" energy, while Saitou's hair is the opposite, from the daily life stress.
Also, Saitou's skin is very pale and fair. It was back when people told me that I had no colour on my skin from overworking myself (compared to Dan and Ed's healthier skin). And if this isn't obvious, Saitou has a very long cowlick (ahoge), referencing Danganronpa's protagonists, for UnderDespair, where I created my fusion AU for my variation of Science Sans to exist.
Edward is also based on my design for my variation of Underfell Sans. Over time, his outfit doesn't match my human form of him, but I still keep it as he's comfortable with large or baggy tops to cover his insecurity about his body, hence why he wears a red sweater (despite the weather and odd choice of clothing).
Ed's skin is slightly close to medium-tan, attempting to match my skin colour in certain lighting and environments, especially because Ed often goes out like training at the gym, jogging and playing basketball. Ed's eyes actually have dark circles due to lack of sleep (and shedding so many tears), so he covers them with a red eyeliner (except, I personally have no experience in using makeup). Also, Ed has a mini stubble and sometimes rubs his finger on his chin like I do!
Interestingly, the red hairpins clipped to his hair are a personal reference to my very first cosplay of a particular anime character who also wears red hairpins (except Edge has a little less hairpins). They're mainly for Ed for lockpicking and potentially hiding very tiny paper or things in between. Logically, the hairpins are supposed to be on the other side, but they're mainly keeping his hair from covering his long side bang. And funny, Ed has many earrings in his left ear, but his long bang covers them. He had an edgy teenage phase of having earrings and the style of old side bangs as "cool". Now that he's older, he just keeps the earrings hidden behind his long side bang to avoid bad first impressions from the public while uncovering his bang for special occasions.
